You know the saying, “The eyes are the window to your soul” – when I have the pleasure of photographing children I often think of that quote.
Childhood is such a fantastical, whimsical, honest stage in life.
If they are happy – you know it.
If they are sad – you know it.
And if they’ve had it with you taking photos of them – you know it!
There is such honesty in child sessions.
I would say there are no fake smiles, but…I’ve seen my share of “CHEESE” smiles. So, here’s my tip to parents, don’t put added pressure on the kids – or yourselves – by trying to “coach” a smile out of them.
They know how to smile. And they will when they darn well feel like it! It’s my job to make sure I’m there to catch it – so relax, and enjoy the session.
It will feel like chaos. Don’t worry – most do!
